The 35-year-old was playing against Ireland, when she hit a brilliant half century taking India into the semi finals. This is the third time India has reached semis of the Women’s World T20.

Yesterday, Mithali Raj surpassed all male cricketers in the world T20 after beating the score of NZ cricketer, Martin Guptill.

Mithali scored 51 off 56 balls and went on to complete 2283 T20I runs. She has played 80 T20I innings so far.

With Mithali hitting her 17th T20I half century, she also became the only cricketer to have the most 50-plus scores in a calendar year combining both men and women cricketers.

She had earlier surpassed Rohit Sharma who has 2207 runs in T20I to become the highest T20I run scorer in India.

However, she is still the the fourth highest T20I scorer in the world, standing behind Suzie Bates (2961), Stafanie Taylor (2691) and Charlotte Edwards (2605).
