Mohammad Gayasuddin, the father of main accused Mohammad Samiullah, was arrested on Sunday in connection with the brutal rape of a girl in Bihar’s East Champaran (Motihari) district, police said.
With the arrest, all the five accused in the case have been arrested, Superintendent of Police Jitendra Rana said.
The 21-year-old girl, in her complaint, had alleged that her neighbour Samiullah had raped her on June 13 at Jamui Tola village, following which a complaint was lodged on June 15 at the Ramgarhwa police station.

Samiullah, the main accused in the case, was arrested from the Chhitauni bus stand of Motihari town on June 24. His three brothers — Mohammad Jabiullah, Mohammad Kalimullah and Mohammad Nusrullah — were arrested from Jhakia village.
On the basis of Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySP)’s report, two policemen have been suspended with immediate effect. Subodh Kumar, who is a sub-inspector and officer-in-charge of Ramgarhwa police station, and Vijay Singh, assistant sub-inspector and investigating officer (IO), have been suspended for alleged dereliction of duty and failure to arrest the culprits.
Union Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister Radha Mohan Singh and Union Minister of State for Human Resources Development Upendra Kushwaha had met the family members of the victim and enquired about the condition of the girl who is admitted at Motihari Sadar Hospital.

Both the ministers demanded speedy trial and stern action against the accused in the alleged rape case.
National Commission for Women (NCW) member Sushma Sahu had also visited the Sadar hospital yesterday to meet the alleged rape survivor.
Sahu, who expressed displeasure over hospital’s role, sought the earlier medical report of the victim from the Civil Surgeon. She also sought medical reports for the last 10 years of rape incidents in East Champaran (Motihari) district.
