Bengaluru’s Anisha Acharya, who is presently pursuing her master’s course in film editing f rom American Film Institute (AFI), has won the gold at the Student Oscar Awards 2015 in the narrative category, for her contribution in the film Day One, as reported by the Deccan Herald .

Day One is a 25 minutes film based on a true story about an Afghan-American woman, who is an interpreter in US Military. During a hunt in Afghanistan she finds a bomb maker’s pregnant wife who goes into labour. The protagonist, who plays the role of an interpreter, has to go beyond the call of duty to deliver the child.

The film was directed by Henry Hughes. Anisha edited the film as a part of her thesis at AFI. She happens to be the grand daughter of late CK Nagaraja Rao, a notable writer and dramatist, as reported by Daily News And Analysis .
