Congress leader Jagdish Tytler was attacked by a 23-year-old Sikh man at a wedding in Delhi on Saturday.
The accused verbally abused Tytler and then threw a piece of glass at him. The Congress leader, who is accused of 1984 Sikh riots, escaped unhurt. According to a CNN-IBN report , the attacker has been arrested and police have recorded the statement.
“I appeal to the youth not to get into any violence as this may create sympathy for Tytler. He already has security guards with him so how can anyone attack him. It needs to be checked whether it was engineered attack,” said senior advocate HS Phoolka to CNN-IBN.
On Friday, December 4, the CBI (Central Bureau of Investigation) was asked to conduct further probe in the 1984 riots case against Tytler with a Delhi court saying that statement of arms dealer Abhishek Verma reveals an active role played by the Congress leader in extending “helping hand” to a witness against him.It was noted by the court that the statement by Abhishek given to CBI in which he has claimed that Tytler had sent the son of Surinder Singh Granthi, a key witness against him, to Canada cannot be a “sheer coincidence” and a probe must be done by CBI.
