While addressing a conference during the inauguration of the National Conference of Dalit Entrepreneurs organised by DICCI (Dalit Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry), PM Modi said that the newly launched Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana scheme will enable a Dalit to stand tall in society, not as a job seeker but as a job giver.
He also mentioned the humiliation that a Dalit is forced to go through in the society.
“A Dalit goes through humiliation… ask me, I know how it feels to be humiliated. From my personal experience I can tell you, the elite still can’t stand it when they see a Dalit wearing nice clothes,” he said, according to The Indian Express.
Stressing upon the empowerment of Dalits, he said, “Financial inclusion is at the core of the government’s focus and the Centre is working for the empowerment of people especially those belonging to backward classes.
“Our government is aap ki sarkar (your government). We are working for your empowerment,” he said inaugurating the national conference of Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe entrepreneurs.
Praising Dalit icon B.R. Ambedkar, he said that Ambedkar was the architect of the Constitution, but not many know that he was an accomplished economist too.
“Babasaheb rightly said that industrialisation will give maximum benefit to our dalit sisters and brothers,” Mr. Modi said. He also spoke about a venture capital fund that will be set up to help people of backward classes.
