While Chennai is battling a disaster in addition to the government’s apathy, Delhi is having to deal with with people taking undue advantage of their resources.

In a shocking incident, a family used a disaster management vehicle, with a siren and a red beacon, to ferry children to watch a football match at Nehru Stadium.

The incident came to light when an alert citizen Dheeraj Vohra intervened and called the police who then issued a chalaan to the driver for misusing government resources.

Vohra said, “Initially I paved the way for the vehicle, as it was blowing siren and flashing beacon. I did not realise that the driver was ferrying a family to the match.”

In addition to numerous cases of VVIPs exploiting their position to have their way, using a vehicle meant for emergency situations as personal transportation is shameful and insensitive.
