On February 1, Abhinav Anand, a Delhi resident, ordered a Canon camera worth over Rs 36,000 from online retailer Flipkart. But upon opening the packaging when it was delivered on February 4, instead of a brand new camera, Anand found only the instruction booklet along with three fist-sized rocks wrapped in paper, he claims.

According to Anand, who is claiming the company defrauded him of his money, Flipkart has not been responsive on the issue and has denied any responsibility.

“I tried calling the delivery boy immediately after discovering the rocks but he denied responsibility, asking me to contact customer care instead. When I called Customer Care, at first they did not answer, and even when they did, they were not at all helpful. Every time I call and ask about my camera, they say they are investigating on their end and that I will be updated of the situation in a couple of days. But that day never came,” Anand told ScoopWhoop News.

Anand, 24, who is a fitness trainer, says he ordered a Canon 700d EOS DSLR camera and paid for it in cash. He is extremely distressed over what to do next.

“They are not clarifying anything. I have asked them for a refund since I clearly have proof that they sent me rocks. But they say they cannot refund the money saying this is not their responsibility. But then when I tell them I shall take legal action, they say they are carrying out investigations on their own end and that I should wait for a couple more days,” the victim said.

“I really don’t know what to do right now,” he lamented.

This is not the first time that the Indian e-tailer has faced such complaints.

In June 2016, a Mumbai resident filed a complaint after Flipkart delivered him a box containing a bar of soap instead of the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 handset that he had ordered. Then too the victim had accused Flipkart of being unresponsive though the company had to refund the full amount they owed to the victim after the complaint.

In other instances, Flipkart has delivered rocks, wood and even mangoes in place of laptops and other commodities.
