On Wednesday January 14, when Alan Rickman passed away, fans and fellow actors expressed their condolences on Twitter.
Emma Watson, who acted with Rickman in Harry Potter series of films also took to social media and condoled his death by tweeting the actor’s quote.
Here’s what she tweeted:

But Watson, who is also a UN goodwill ambassador, probably did not know that many people would berate her ‘for propagating her feminist agenda’. Here’s what they tweeted:
.@EmWatson oh wow, you’re using someone’s death to push a completely unrelated agenda. this is so, so gross.

@EmWatson don’t make us hate him. Also, nice using your dead friend your your agenda.

Using someone’s death to advance your own agenda… why? https://t.co/7Dpvk76s1j

So @EmWatson using Alan Rickman’s death to further her agenda. Why not surprised? Fucking classless bitch.

However there were other people who saw it as a simple tweet quoting the actor:
@Dekashoko how gross to use Twitter to attack a woman grieving for her (proudly feminist) friend. What kind of person does that?
— Leah Hardy (@LeahFHardy) January 14, 2016
@thanatoskepsi @EmWatson So his quote supporting feminism would make you hate him? How strange.

@inaquii feminism isn’t an agenda, it’s calling for equality and basic human rights. Get off the internet

.@MUJawed @EmWatson Yet another reason the Internet makes me sad today. Such repugnance. https://t.co/oVwQBMXb5o

And for those who believe she was using it to further an agenda, here’s what she said on Facebook about Rickman’s passing. No agenda. Just condolences:
