Hundreds of drivers working with Ola and Uber organized a strike in Bengaluru on Monday protesting against the differential fares and the incentives received from the two companies and urging the government to set a common rule for the same.
Business Standard reports that the drivers insist that both companies stop incentive payouts and instead pay as per the Rs 19.50 fare fixed by the government.

Times of India reports, state transport minister Ramalinga Reddy said that he will have a roundtable meeting to discuss the issues of cab drivers. Ola, Taxiforsure and Uber (OTU) Drivers Union went off the roads on Monday protesting that the two companies stick to a flat rate of Rs 19.5 km for AC and Rs 14.5 km for non-AC vehicle.

As of now, Uber and Ola charge Rs 6 or 7 per km and the fare can vary with the type of car. Both the companies also give out incentives for those drivers that complete 24 trips in day or so.
The drivers are known to have gathered in the city’s Town hall area on Sunday. TOI reports that one of the driver allegedly snatched the devices of a few other drivers in order to make them join the protest.
