One of world's most beloved symbols and France's priceless monument, the Notre Dame Cathedral has been ravaged by a massive fire today.

According to reports, a massive fire engulfed the monument, toppling the structure's delicate spire. The cause of the fire is still unknown. Police say there have been no casualties. Around 400 firefighters have been dispatched to the area to help douse the devastating fire.

The cathedral, whose name means Our Lady, is the seat of the archbishop of Paris.

People from France and the world are outpouring their grief over social media over the loss of one of the most beloved monuments in history.

Many Parisians came out and sang hymns in front of the burning Cathedral to pay their homage.

The 850-year-old gothic building is one of the world's most historic and famous landmarks and is visited by millions of tourists every year. A part of history gone forever.
