The partial lunar eclipse will take place on 16th-17th July, at night and people all across South America, Europe, Africa, Asia and Australia will be able to witness this phenomena.
Just to be clear, during a partial lunar eclipse, the sun, earth and moon do not form a straight line, which means, only a small part of the moon is covered by Earth’s umbra, the darkest and most central part of the earth’s shadow. This part then appears black or darkened.
In India, a partial lunar eclipse will be visible from the morning of July 17. It will start at 12.11 AM and will go on till 5.49 AM. Although, the best time to observe a partial lunar eclipse will be between 1:31 AM and 4:29 AM.
If the sky is mostly clear in your region, you might get lucky. You won’t need a telescope to observe the eclipse because unlike a solar eclipse, a lunar eclipse cannot damage your eyes. Just look towards the moon without having any obstructions in your line of vision to observe the partial lunar eclipse.

1. June to October is the best time to visit Leh Ladakh. During this time, the weather is quite clear and the roads also remain open. So, you could sit by Pangong Lake and witness the partial lunar eclipse for a magical experience.
2. Rajasthan doesn’t receive much rainfall throughout the year so the temperature varies between 35 and 28 degrees Celsius and the sky remains clear. Head to Mehrangarh Fort or the Umaid Bhawan Palace to enjoy an uninterrupted view of the partial lunar eclipse.
3. Hyderabad receives light showers during monsoons so you should be able to see the partial eclipse without any troubles.
4. Puducherry, in Tamil Nadu, doesn’t receive heavy rainfall until October so the weather is quite pleasant throughout and the sky also remains clear so, you can enjoy an uninterrupted view of the partial lunar eclipse here.
