A 15-day-old baby from Kerala is being taken by ambulance from Mangaluru to Thiruvananthapuram for a heart valve surgery. The strange thing is, the entire journey is being live-streamed on Facebook.

According to The News Minute, the ambulance, with the license plate KL 60 J 7739, is on a 600 km journey through almost 12 different districts. By live telecasting the journey, they hope that people will help clear their route of traffic.

The Child Protect Team, an NGO that is coordinating the transfer, set off from Mangaluru at 11 am on Tuesday. They are hoping to cut the travel time from 15 hours to 10 hours.

The baby of Saniya and Mitha is being taken from a hospital in Mangaluru to Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute for Medical Sciences and Technology in Thiruvananthapuram.

The Child Protect’s teams in 12 districts are coordinating with people on the ground as well as police personnel. Sunil Malikkal, a member of the team, told The News Minute –

We had done this once two years ago. People check social media a lot and they spread messages they see on social media. So since the route has been announced, people help us a lot

Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan posted about it on Facebook, and asked everyone to help out.

Shashi Tharoor also tweeted about the situation.

The child could not be airlifted due to the risk of breathing and pressure variation. You can watch the live stream below, and help spread the word.
