The legislators in Kerala surely knows how to kick start a debate on the Centre’s new cattle trade ban – by having beef!

The one-day special Kerala Assembly session saw legislators head to the assembly canteen for steaming beef fry before the discussion.

According to FirstPost, an employee of the canteen informed IANS that unlike normal days when beef is served only after 11 am, it was served early on Thursday morning before the session.

“With the session wholly devoted to discussing the beef issue, we brought 10 kg of beef early in the morning. By now, a good number of MLAs have already had beef fry before heading to the assembly floor,” he said on condition of anonymity.

According to NDTV, the canteen attendant added that Devikulam CPM legislator S Rajendran was the first to be served beef.

The session began with Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan moving a resolution against the Centre’s new rule.

“This new rule is nothing but a blatant violation on the rights of individuals to eat what they wish and want. This new rule will hugely affect the agrarian society of our state and also our country,” Vijayan said.
