The four men arrested in connection to the rape and murder of the 27-year-old Hyderabad vet were shot dead by the police in an ‘encounter’.
The 4 men had been taken by Hyderabad Police to the crime scene to recreate it when they tried to flee and were shot.
This has led thousands of people on Twitter to celebrate the city’s police for engaging in ‘swift justice’.
These accused should meet the same fate as the accused got in #HyderabadHorror !!

Bravo, I request @TelanganaDGP not to run further enquiry or trial on the #Encounter. The whole country is celebrating. #JaiHind

I congratulate the hyderabad police and the leadership that allows the police to act like police

Let all know this is the country where good will always prevail over evil
(Disclaimer for holier than thou- police acted swiftly in self defence)#Encounter#hyderabadpolice
A father in Kerala had to kill the rapist and murderer of his 13 year old daughter, coz a Kerala court let the rapist out on bail. The ‘juvenile’ in the #Nirbhaya case is a free man with a sewing machine. In such a situation, how can one NOT be happy with the #encounter?
— Shefali Vaidya (@ShefVaidya) December 6, 2019
That being said, there are many more who are condemning the police for taking the law into their hands and not following the judiciary procedure as the law dictates.

This police encounter is disturbing. This isn’t the right way. #HyderabadHorror

My first reaction to the Encounter News was exactly like most of the people of India.
— Ankita Shah (@Ankita_Shah8) December 6, 2019
But now m literally thinking what if they were not real culprits ??
बात तो कानून व्यवस्था को सही करने की हुई थी, कानून हाथ में लेने की नहीं…#HyderabadHorror #Encounter
The 26 year old rape case was failure of policing system.
— kamaljit sandhu (@kamaljitsandhu) December 6, 2019
Encounter of rapist, failing to bring them to justice, also a failure of policing system.
Looks like an easy escape route from public wrath against cops.
You cant prevent crime, you can be part of it?#HyderabadHorror
A slow judicial process can’t be a justification for cops picking up people & shooting them at 3am to “close a case”.
— Saket Gokhale (@SaketGokhale) December 6, 2019
Rapists with money can pay cops to go free & frame someone else in their place.
I repeat: the actual culprits might just be roaming freely
(2/3)
What we need is a quick response, good investigation, a speedy trial, and fast justice. Collapsing due process with an #encounter will only lead to the process collapsing.
— Ramesh Srivats (@rameshsrivats) December 6, 2019
Shocking. What have we become? What proof was there that these were real culprits? Do we have information on investigation and evidence which prove crime beyond doubt? They perhaps didn’t even have a lawyer, didn’t get a hearing. Killed in #Encounter and we are celebrating?
— Sanjukta Basu (@sanjukta) December 6, 2019
Do these people who are celebrating #Encounter and showering flower petals on cops realise that the cops initially delayed looking for the victim and told the family that she would have eloped? No? Ok.
— Megha Kaveri (@meghakaveri) December 6, 2019
May be slow down and recollect? Thnx.
You’ll now have reporters speak to the family of the murdered doctor. Still in grief & shock, they will welcome the #encounter. They’ve just seen their daughter/sister’s burnt corpse. Who wouldn’t want summary death? Their emotions will now be used to justify a FAKE encounter.
— Shiv Aroor (@ShivAroor) December 6, 2019
Now nobody will ever know if the four men killed by the police were innocent men, arrested fast to show action. And whether four of the most brutal rapists roam free, to rape and kill more women.#EncounterNight #Encounter https://t.co/LEXxSKWzre
— Karuna Nundy (@karunanundy) December 6, 2019
The four accused had been arrested on November 29 and were in judicial custody in high-security cells at Cherlapally Central Prison. They were charged under IPC sections 302 (murder), 375 (rape) and 362 (abduction).
