In association with Mercedes-Benz India

For as long as I can remember, Mercedes-Benz has been the king on the road (and the ruler of our hearts)! Every single time you see one on the streets, your heart goes aflutter. And all you want to do is to admire the beauty and engineering that every Mercedes automobile embodies.

If you too, like us are fans of the three pointed star, you know of the centuries old legacy that Mercedes boasts of. Iconic beauties like the 300SL Gullwing, champions of luxury like the 600 Grosser and the marvel of engineering that is the SLR McLaren have all been a part of the brands rich history. And this constant need to strive for the very best is reflected in their motto — restless for tomorrow.

Motor1

And true to this motto, for the Auto-Expo 2020, Mercedes-Benz is coming out with new futuristic cars and technology that not only takes the legacy of the brand forward, but also helps us move towards a more sustainable future, cementing its position as a leader in the luxury car segment.

The show stealer this year is the unveiling of the A-Class Limousine.

The much anticipated car comes with a set of sporty, twin-5-spoke alloy wheels and integrated LED turn signal lights. With a bold waistline and a sloping roofline, the four-door notchback is already winning hearts. The A-Class Limousine is powered by a 2.0-litre BS6-compliant petrol and diesel engines and also comes with the latest MBUX infotainment system with voice command features.

Next up for showcase is the world’s fastest production four-seater — Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S 4MATIC + 4 Door Coupé.

It comes with a meaty 639 hp (470 kW) engine which propels this car from 0 to 100 kmph in a measly 3.2 seconds. The car also has an electronic locking differential that gives you even greater speed and control in the corners. Truly a supreme machine!

The new Mercedes-Benz GLA was also unveiled at the Auto Expo

The smallest SUV in the Mercedes line-up now has a completely new design and comes with even newer features inside. It’s facelifted and is now longer, taller, and powered by a 1.3-litre turbo-petrol engine making 161bhp. What looks pleasing to the eye are the new headlight internals, the restyled slats on the grille and the redesigned lower bumper section. A product of great appeal to the younger generation, Mercedes-Benz GLA is the perfect vehicle for on and off road, adventure trips.

One of the most futuristic cars that has been unveiled at the ongoing Auto-Expo is the Mercedes-Benz EQC Edition 1886.

This concept vehicle is surely one of the draws of the Auto-Expo 2020, which marks the dawn of a new era of electric mobility. While the “1886” in the EQC 1886, harks back to the invention of the first automobile, this new step in electric motoring uses a 80kWh floor-mounted battery pack, and can do 0 to 100 kmph in an impressive 5.1 seconds. A beauty to behold, the car comes exclusively in metallic high-tech silver with new seat designs upholstered in man-made leather.

Another offering from Mercedes-Benz this Auto-Expo is the V-Class Marco Polo.

Launched in two variants, the V-Class Marco Polo offers oodles of space. It’s like a 1BHK house on wheels (an extremely luxurious 1BHK at that). From stowage facilities and seating/sleeping arrangements to even camping equipment for outdoors, it’s packed with kit. The vehicle has enough room for up to four people to sleep comfortably on the 2 seater bench. And along with all of that, the Marco Polo has a fresh water and waste water tank along with an exterior power connection with 230V and USB sockets. It’s a home away from home!

Mercedes-Benz is making sure we lose our minds drooling over their launches this year. And guess what? We are. Head to the Auto-Expo and be ready to be blown away by the future of motoring.
