After leaving everyone guessing for over a month about his future plans, Navjot Singh Sidhu’s wife announced on Friday that the cricketer-turned-politician will be creating a new political front.

The front, which will also have Pargat Singh and the Bains brothers, which will be called “Aawaaz-e-Punjab”.

And Navjot Kaur Sidhu also said what the objective of the new front would be:

They have even released a poster of their new front. The party will be launched on September 9.

This development might come as a surprise to the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) who would’ve profited from getting a prominent face like Sidhu ahead of the assembly polls in the state next year.

Sidhu had met Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal at his residence last month, but the party remained tight lipped on what transpired at the meeting.

“He didnt put any pre-condition. He needs time to think. Lets respect that. He is a very good human being and a cricketing legend,” said Kejriwal while going on to add that his respect for Sidhu will continue irrespective of whether “he joins (AAP) or not”.

After Sidhu’s sudden resignation from the Rajya Sabha last month, the former BJP MP from Amritsar, had lashed out at the party leadership, but kept mum on his future plans.

Congress’s Punjab unit chief, Amarinder Singh, had said last month that Sidhu was welcome to join Congress as it is in his DNA, as his father happened to be a Congressman. Sidhu hails from Patiala, the home town of Amarinder Singh.
