On Sunday, the juvenile convict in the 2012 Delhi gang rape and murder of Nirbhaya will walk free. This presently seems like an eventuality after the Delhi high court on Friday refused to extend his three-year stay in a reform home.
But soon after the high court’s decision was announced, there were strong reactions expressing outrage over his upcoming release.
In some cases Twitterati criticised parliamentarians for not reviewing the Juvenile Justice Act and bringing in stringent measures to try juveniles who commit serious crimes.
Here’s how Twitter reacted:
The #JyotiSingh #JyotiSingh case exposes the weakness in laws n women n child victims rights! Both juvenile justice act n POCSO need review!
