A 34-year-old man fell from a height on the sets of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s upcoming mega film Padmavati and died, as per reports.
A Mid-Day report said that Mukesh Dakia was painting a tomb on the sets in Film City on Saturday afternoon. The work was almost over and he was giving final colour touch-ups to the painting.
He was declared dead after arrival in Kokilaben hospital.
An official from Aarey police station told Mid-Day, “Mukesh Dakia, a resident of Moracha Pada in Aarey Colony, fell on his back. He sustained severe head injuries.”
An Indian Express report quoted unnamed sources saying the safety rules were neglected on the site. The police have filed an accidental death report and are probing the matter.
A statement by Shobha Sant, CEO, Bhansali Productions, said, “What took place was extremely unfortunate and completely unforeseen. We are making every effort to help the authorities. Our support and prayers are with deceased’s family in this time of grief.”
The film stars Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone and is reportedly based on the life of Rani Padmini, wife of King Ratansen of Chittor, who committed jauhar (self-immolation) rather than submit to Aluaddin Khilji.
