The only way to achieve peace between Pakistan and India is finding a solution to the Kashmir issue, the new Pakistani Foreign Minister Khawaja Asif said on Sunday.
“We know how to secure our borders, however, lasting peace can only be attained through solving the Kashmir issue,” he said while speaking to media in Sialkot, reports Pakistani newspaper, Express News.
Addressing his maiden press conference held at PML-N House Sialkot, Khawaja Asif said Pakistan always wanted peace and good relations with its neighbour, but no one should misconstrue it as a weakness, reports Pakistani newspaper, The Nation.
Pakistan’s new foreign minister also said that India and Pakistan should prove themselves to be good neighbours, “It’s high time for both India and Afghanistan to come forward, give positive response to Pakistan’s peace initiatives and be good neighbours”.
“Both India and Afghanistan must end the blame game,” he added.
According to the foreign minister, India has been continuously violating the ceasefire accord by shelling the civilian population along the Line of Control (LoC). He also said that India is supporting conspiracies against Pakistan by Afghanistan along the western border in a bid to destabilise the country on economic as well as political fronts.
