PM Modi has been quite vocal about two things – fitness and cleanliness. And this time he has combined both during his visit to Mamallapuram.
In a recent video he can be seen plogging at a beach. For those who don’t know what ‘plogging’ is, it is a combination of jogging and picking up litter.

Also handed over my ‘collection’ to Jeyaraj, who is a part of the hotel staff.
Let us ensure our public places are clean and tidy!
Let us also ensure we remain fit and healthy. pic.twitter.com/qBHLTxtM9y
Earlier he also tweeted about enjoying a refreshing walk along the coast.

While some appreciated his efforts in leading by example…
If he can, we can too.

And if some feel that picking up litter is beneath anyone dignity, at least we can stop littering indiscriminately.
Remember, change starts with us. We owe it to our next generation. #Plogging pic.twitter.com/MHtmbDYqf8
… others pointed out the irony in the video.

This is perhaps the first instance in history when a place was not cleaned up before the PM's visit.
PM Modi is in Mamallapuram for an informal summit with the Chinese President Xi Jinping starting today, 12th October.
