A policeman was killed and two persons, including an officer, were injured in a fierce gun battle with militants in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir.
As per reports, the police received information of heavily-armed terrorists hiding in an under construction government building in the outskirts of Poonch. When the cops surrounded the building, the forces came under heavy fire, killing one policeman and injuring another.

“There was a gun battle near the under construction mini-secretariat at Allah Pir area in Poonch after presence of two or more militants was detected in the area this morning,” a police officer told PTI.
In the encounter, one policeman died and two persons were injured, police officials said, adding, the deceased was identified as R Kumar.

One of the injured is Sub Inspector of Special Operation Group (SoG) Manzoor Hussain and another a civilian Tariq, they said.
As per reports, two to three militants are believed be holed up inside the building.
In another encounter near the Line of Control in Nowgam Sector, in north Kashmir, the Army has killed three terrorists.
