Tennis star Sania Mirza was slated to attend Madhya Pradesh government’s annual sports awards ceremony as the chief guest, but it turned out that her demands prevented that from happening. The Sports Minister said that they were unacceptable.

The sports department had to reschedule the entire event and bring in badminton coach Pullela Gopichand instead of Mirza, as her demands for a chartered plane, five business class tickets for her assistants and a make-up kit worth Rs 75,000 proved to be a bit too steep , reported The Indian Express .

Although Sania had accepted the invitation, the demands came later from her personal assistant, but there has been no response to the incident by Mirza or any of her staff.

But ‘patriots’ on Twitter expectedly went berserk with reactions like:

An official told The Indian Express that offered to pay for economy class tickets and accommodation in a star hotel, which had been deemed acceptable by Gopichand and previous chief guest Saina Nehwal.
