The enormous violence in war-torn Syria has left the country devastated and people fleeing for safety to wherever they find hope of not getting killed. Perhaps, no people than Syrians better know what it means to be in a war where bombs are being dropped on hospitals and safety shelters.
Syria’s war has killed more than 260,000 people, uprooted more than half the population and left the country in ruins since it erupted nearly five years ago.
The conflict that began with peaceful protests for reform in March 2011, escalated into an all-out civil war drawing foreign jihadists and foreign intervention after a brutal crackdown on dissent by the Syrian regime.
