Maharashtra Education and Cultural Affairs Minister Vinod Tawde, who once opined that yoga should be made compulsory in schools, now plans to award students with marks for doing yoga everyday, Indian Express reported.
After attending a yoga session with Baba Ramdev in Mumbai, he tweeted:

It is not the first time that the minister has openly promoted yoga. In June 2015, Tawde said that yoga should be included in school curriculum as a compulsory subject and urged everyone to practice yoga. This raked up a huge controversy, with Muslim outfits strongly protesting against the idea.
He also performed yoga with students at Dixit School, a civic school in Vile Parle on the eve of International Yoga Day and announced that he would soon try and incorporate yoga in school syllabus.
Notably, Madhya Pradesh, Haryana, Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh have already introduced Yoga in their schools from last year. According to some reports, Yoga has been implemented in some of the schools in UK and some other countries.
