Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa was immediately rushed to the ICU of Apollo Hospital in Chennai after she suffered a heart attack on Sunday. A team of doctors has now been flown from New Delhi to monitor her condition.
The 68-year-old CM has been admitted at the hospital since September 22 after her health deteriorated. However, she had been showing signs of recovery and doctors had actually been positive about her health yesterday.
But, Apollo Hospital put out a bulletin on Sunday night stating that Jayalalitha had suffered a cardiac arrest. She is now being monitored by a team of experts including cardiologists, pulmonologists and critical care specialists.
Last week, the hospital had announced that she had been doing well and was speaking through a valve attached to the tracheotomy tube.
Maharashtra Governor Ch Vidyasagar Rao, the acting Tamil Nadu governor, has rushed to Chennai, following the news of Jayalalithaa’s serious condition.
Even the President has extended his full support.
