Proudly flaunting their tagline, ‘Probably the best beer in the world’, Carlsberg is here to manifest a tagline into reality.

In an environmentally conscious decision, to cut back on pollution caused from discarded beer bottles, Carlsberg is set to launch paper bottles for beer

The beer company made the announcement at the C40 World Mayors Summit in Copenhagen, on Friday. These paper bottles, called ‘Green Fibre Bottle’, are storage containers made from sustainably sourced wood fibers. Carslberg is working on two prototypes, with an inner lining preventing any leaks.

The inside barriers are made of polymers but Carlsberg said it is trying to create a bottle made entirely of bio-materials, without polymers. The bio-based polymer is made from 100% renewable materials like forest and agricultural waste, which can be burned or recycled, which will not add to carbon dioxide emissions.

The prototypes are currently in testing, and if all works out, they may official very soon. The company eventually plans to get rid of the polymer lining inside the prototypes to produce 100% bio-based bottles.
