A shocking case of medical negligence has come to light in Chhattisgarh, where a woman died of infection after carrying a dead foetus for five days. She was allegedly refused treatment by doctors after she was unable to deposit fees at a private hospital.
The incident reportedly took place in Korba district of Chattisgarh where 22-year-old Saraswati and her husband had to make rounds of hospitals seeking treatment. She was diagnosed with a dead foetus by the doctors and subsequently asked to get blood and arrange money. The couple were asked to deposit Rs 10,000 and 4 units of bloods at Jamunadevi hospital, reports ANI.

When they went to Srishti Medical Institute hospital, doctors agreed to operate her the next day but she died around 11:30 pm on Monday night.
Soon after the incident was raised by the local media, a probe was ordered by the District collector P Dayanand. He announced a three-member team headed by Additional Collector Heena Netam to investigate the incident.
Dayanand has assured to take strict action against the people who are responsible for the woman’s death.
