The Delhi Police officer probing the alleged "high-handedness" of police personnel during the recent clashes outside Ramjas College has been transferred.
Additional DCP-I(North) Esha Pandey has been transferred to Special Police Unit for Women and Children as its DCP. Harendra Singh, currently serving as DCP(EOW), will replace Pandey as Additional DCP-I(North).
"In case the probe is not completed yet, Singh will handle the investigation," said a senior police officer, adding "it is a routine transfer and is not connected to the Ramjas probe."
He also said that Pandey had requested for the transfer citing personal reasons.
Pandey will be replacing Varsha Sharma who has been posted as DCP(EOW).
DCP(Rohini) MN Tiwari will be posted as DCP (Outer), a charge he was holding before Rohini district was created. Rishi Pal, who is posted as DCP(Outer), will replace Tiwari.
Ramjas College had witnessed large-scale violence between members of the All India Students Association (AISA) and the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) last month.
The incident occurred after an invite was sent to JNU students Umar Khalid and Shehla Rashid to address a seminar on 'Culture of Protests' which was withdrawn by the college authorities following opposition by the ABVP.
