On Tuesday, textile minister Smriti Irani was given the additional portfolio of the Information and Broadcasting (I&B) ministry. The charge of the urban development minister has been given to rural development minister Narendra Singh Tomar.

The cabinet reshuffle comes after Venkaiah Naidu was declared as NDA’s vice-presidential pick, who will face Congress-led Opposition parties’ Gopal Krishna Gandhi.
After the announcement, Narendra Modi tweeted, “Shri M Venkaiah Naidu has resigned. Additional charge of I&B Ministry has been given to Smriti Irani & Moud_India (Ministry of Urban Development) has been given to NS Tomar.”
