Ever felt like no matter what you say, or how you say it, your parents never really listen to you? And if they do hear you, they always disagree? Sometimes you feel like you just can’t talk to your parents.
A Twitter user, Sai asked people what would they say to their parents, without thinking about the consequences, and people promptly replied.
If you could tell your parents anything you’re thinking/feeling without consequences, what would it be?

Here’s what some of them wanted to say to their parents.
Stop living your dreams through me, and guilt-tripping me into doing things you want to but I don’t.

That changing age old customs/traditions isn’t a bad thing… especially when it’s making soneone’s life better e.g. gender equality, gay rights… my parents don’t understand that improving others’ lives wont make their own lives worse and it’s really sad 😞

It hurts you don’t believe me when I say I have mental health issues. Or my ADHD. They’re all diagnosed. If you wonder why I don’t tell you things it’s because of that.

I need you to trust me. I need you to not project the paranoia that your parents and the world taught you on to me. You taught me to be strong, but you need to trust those lessons. I promise, I’ll be okay.

I would tell them let me be and let me live my life a little, let me go out to eat let me go out to have fun with my friends let me enjoy my youth not everything revolves around me getting married

Stop dictating my life, I am not a tool to be used to make your unfulfilled dreams come to true. Just because you raised me does not mean my life belongs to you. I need to be my own person.

Just because you guys had to be adults by 20 doesn’t mean I have to be completely independent too. I’m my own person, I’m not the reflection of you.

I love you to death, but sometimes I wish you wouldn’t rely on me so much. I feel so guilty whenever I pick myself over you sometimes, and that’s not healthy. We need space but I don’t know how to tell you that; it’d break your heart.

Please let me marry when I’m ready!

I will just say thank you with all my heart, for being the parents that they have been to me. But yes I am too shy to put those in actual words to them.
