Departing stalwarts Younis Khan and captain Misbah ul Haq failed to make an impact in their farewell international innings but the pair has been Pakistan cricket’s strongest foundation for years.

Day 5 of West Indies vs Pakistan Test on May 14 will be their last day in International cricket. With their exit, the game of cricket will get poorer by almost 30,000 runs. Both the batsmen have been Pakistan’s batting lineup’s cornerstone for sometime.

Between them, the duo have played 193 Test matches. They made the retirement announcement last month.

Younis departs Test cricket as Pakistan’s highest run-getter in Test cricket. He is the only Pakistani batsman to cross the 10,000-run mark in Tests and the 13th overall. 

Misbah who has been Pakistan’s Test captain since 2010 also led his side to No. 1 position in ICC rankings for Test teams in 2016.

Misbah, 42, and Younis, 39, received guards of honour after their final innings.

Cricket fans took to twitter to pay tribute to the legendary cricketers.

14 wickets tumbled on the penultimate day of the series, ending with the home side at seven for one after being set a daunting victory target of 304.

Mohammad Abbas claimed his first five-wicket haul in Test cricket to trigger a West Indies first innings collapse to 247 all out in the morning after they resumed at 218 for five with the match appearing at the start of the day to be dragging towards a dreary draw.
