It was billed as the contest of the tournament – and it turned out to be a no-contest. India were simply that good. In every department. It was a remarkable all-round show and Pakistan were honestly no match.

India made 319 in 48 overs thanks to fifties from Virat Kohli (81*), Rohit Sharma (91), Shikhar Dhawan (68) and Yuvraj Singh (53) – and that target was recalculated to a 289-run target in 41 overs for Pakistan after rain interrupted play multiple times.

In the end, they managed only 164 runs 33.4 overs (Wahab Riaz retired hurt and couldn’t return to bat).

And there was no stopping Twitter as Indian fans came out and delivered burn after burn to their arch-rivals.
