Shikhar Dhawan scored 137 as India posted an imposing 307/7 against South Africa in their World Cup encounter at the MCG.

India did not have the best of starts with opener Rohit Sharma getting run out for 0. But Dhawan took matters into his own hands and pummelled the Proteas pace attack.

Dhawan shared a 127-run partnership with Virat Kohli (46) before putting on another 125 runs with Ajinkya Rahane (79).

This was Dhawan’s 7th ODI century and he might just have set India up to register their first World Cup win against South Africa. The Proteas have won all 3 previous meetings.
