India and West Indies share a rich history when it comes to cricket. The 1983 World Cup victory against the mighty West Indian team led to a cricketing revolution in India, the results of which we are seeing today.

As both the teams clash again let’s have a look at their shared history in the World Cup.

West Indies won by 9 wickets.

Mind you this was the 2nd World Cup ever played and ODIs were still a very new concept. So a team like India were practically minnows at this point.

But one wonders if the Indian team knew that. They bowled and fielded their hearts out and did the impossible. On the last ball of the 52nd over, Amarnath got one to hit Michael Holding’s pad and the umpire raised his finger.
