A brilliant innings by Robin Uthappa and a terrific all-round show by Andre Russell helped holders Kolkata Knight Riders down the mighty Chennai Super Kings by 7 wickets.

Brendon McCullum got CSK off to a flier with a 12-ball 32 but none of their batsmen could carry on with the momentum as they bowed down to the guile of Brad Hogg (4/29) and the pace of Russell (2/20).

But 165/9 is a score that MS Dhoni’s men would have been confident defending. They also got an early boost when KKR skipper Gautam Gambhir (19) got out cheaply.
But an unbroken stand of 112 runs between Uthappa (80*) and Russell (55*) took KKR home with one ball to spare. The win has taken KKR to 3rd position with 9 points.
