The raging debate over Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s future has not stopped even after India’s dreams were snatched by the Kiwis, who ultimately gave away the title to England.

Dhoni has kept everyone guessing but the selectors may have already decided against making Dhoni an automatic pick in the team, according to the Times of India

With more people now supporting the belief that Dhoni must make way for others there’s no doubt the heat is on the former skipper to call it a day.

Chief selector MSK Prasad will soon talk to the 38-year-old, to convey him that his time to exit may have come.

As per a report by the Times of India, a “well-placed sourced” informs:

We’re surprised that he’s not done it so far. There are youngsters like Rishabh Pant waiting to grab their chances. As we saw in the World Cup, Dhoni isn’t the same batsman anymore. Despite coming in at No. 6 or 7, he was struggling to force the pace, and it was hurting the team.

Further the source ruled out Dhoni’s selection for India’s tour of the West Indies, saying:

I don’t think he’s in the selectors’ plan for the 2020 T20 World Cup too. He must quit international cricket gracefully. He isn’t an automatic pick any more.

Earlier, a prominent former Indian cricketer, well-versed with how things work with Indian Cricket, told Times of India:

I’m certain that Dhoni is not going to be picked for India again. It’s high time he calls it a day.

Despite rumours of him retiring, it is believed that there was no communication whatsoever between Dhoni and the panel of selectors during the World Cup.
