The only difference between Australia and Bangladesh last night was David Warner. If you take out his century, or even divide it by half – there is no cricket expert who can predict which one of the sides would have won.
But it doesn’t work that way and Bangladesh, despite their amazing – sometimes even threatening – chase, could not overcome the mighty Australians.
They were not bad, just the opposition was too good: A sentiment resonated by everyone watching the match.
One game 2 stunning hundreds 👏 well played Bangladesh you’ll certainly the best entertainers when it comes to chasing, you’ll lost the game but won places in our hearts thanks for keeping the spirit of the game alive #CWC19 #Bangladesh pic.twitter.com/lFTqGROzc0

Was such a good chase till that wicket of Tamim. Bangladesh are showing that outside of Starc and Cummins, there are opportunities to be had when you play Australia

Spirited run chase by @BCBtigers. Conceded too many to allow for more but they can be proud of this. Eventually though, Australia were too powerful

Had Bangladesh’s bowling been a little better then the would have qualified for top 4 for sure. They r playing one of the best cricket in their history. (batting wise).#AUSvBAN

Bangladesh grown rapidly in International Cricket. They lost by only 48 runs in a 382-Run chase against such a quality bowling attack.

Amazing fighting spirit again from Bangladesh. They gave extra runs in last few overs otherwise this was their match pretty much.

Such good lessons in how these guys approach a big chase. #AUSvBAN #CWC19

Disappointing to lose today but this World Cup was never about which position we finished in – it was about rewriting Bangladesh’s cricketing reputation on a world stage. We’ve showed we can fill stadiums & compete which should be enough for any nation to want to host or tour us.
