Virat Kohli played a masterful innings at the Wankhede in front of nearly 20000 fans to score his 15th Test century. On a pitch that was turning and bouncing, with India facing a daunting task of going past a big first innings score by England, Kohli stepped up to the task and delivered in style.
In the process he also became the highest run-scorer across formats in 2016, going past the 2500 mark. He also went past 1000 runs in Tests for the year.

Here’s how Twitter reacted to a brilliant innings by the Indian captain.
This is a century of tremendous class. @imVkohli. Even at this peak he is on, he is growing as a player.— Harsha Bhogle (@bhogleharsha) December 10, 2016
That’s up there with the best Test hundreds Kohli has made. As good as the 76 and 65 another Indian No.4 made here 15 years ago. #INDvENG— Dileep Premachandran (@SpiceBoxofEarth) December 10, 2016
Masterclass century from @imVkohli says a scribe in the Wankhede press box. But he is a master. `Nuf said— Cricketwallah (@cricketwallah) December 10, 2016
