After being called ‘too lady oriented’ and something that ‘doesn’t represent India’s citizens’, Lipstick Under My Burkha was stuck in the cans after being denied a certification by the Pahlaj Nihalani-headed Central Board of Film Certification.

CBFC deemed the film unfit for release by giving out this statement – “The story is lady oriented, their fantasy above life. There are contagious sexual scenes, abusive words, audio pornography and a bit sensitive touch about one particular section of society”

The film found itself wrapped in controversy but the makers didn’t stop fighting. After appealing to the FCAT (Film Certification Appellate Tribunal), they managed to get an approval for its release.

The film is based on the stories of four women who come face to face with their dreams, desires, sexuality and pretty much everything else that would make a conservative man uncomfortable.

The film is scheduled for release of the 21st of July and has become one of the most anticipated movies of this year. The film’s second trailer has dropped today.
