India got its first full-time woman Defence Minister as nine new ministers took oath in Prime Minister Modi's reshuffled cabinet.
Nirmala Sitharaman will be the country's first full-time Defence Minister. Indira Gandhi held the portfolio as an additional charge when she was the Prime Minister.
Here's how Twitter reacted:
Wow, straight from MoS (independent charge) to a seat at the Cabinet Committee on Security. Amazing trajectory. Well done @nsitharaman ji.— Omar Abdullah (@OmarAbdullah) September 3, 2017
Pleased with Nirmala Sitharaman's appointment. Seems like the party set out to send a message both to women & south Indians.— Vasudha Venugopal (@vasudha_ET) September 3, 2017
Strong. Bold. Honest. Hardworking. Intelligent. Meticulous. The world knows and respects these traits in @nsitharaman . A role model.— Shyam Sekhar (@shyamsek) September 3, 2017
