25 English Words Which Actually Originated From Hindi

Hindi is spoken by a majority of India’s population and September 14 is celebrated every year as Hindi Diwas. On this day in 1949, the Constituent Assembly of India adopted Hindi as the official language of the Republic of India. 

The British stayed in India for over 200 years and Hindi was bound to leave an impact on their language, just like theirs did on ours. As it is, in the times of globalisation, it’s difficult for any language or culture to stay untouched by a foreign influence. And we can confidently say that there are so many words in the English language that have been derived from Hindi, a language rich with refined expressions.
