Mumbai Man Who Brutally Tortured & Stabbed Cat With Screwdriver Let Off With Just A Fine of ₹9000

Animals, especially in India are being brutally killed and hurt, every day a horrific tale of human insensitivity reaches the internet. In a recent case, a man from Mumbai brutally stabbed and killed a cat. His excuse? The cat apparently created a mess in his house, so he stabbed the animal with a screwdriver and killed it outside his home in Chembur, Mumbai.

A picture of Sanjay Gade holding the black cat at the end of a stick after brutally killing it, went viral on the internet on May 14, 2018. Following this, a complaint was filed by animal rights activist, Nirali Koradia against Sanjay.

In this rare convinction, under the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, Sanjay has been fined Rs 9,150 for his act, even though the court stated that it isn’t jailing the convicted because he is ‘physically and mentally sick.’ On September 30, the accused submitted a plea to his lawyer admitting his guilt voluntarily, which the court accepted.
