Will Bury The Body, There’s Nothing Left To Burn: Unnao Rape Victim’s Brother

After battling for her life for two days in the hospital, the Unnao rape victim breathed her last on Saturday, December 7.


She passed away due to extensive burn injuries and her brother broke down saying they’d have to bury the body since there was nothing left to burn.

The young woman was on her way to a court hearing when she was attacked by the men accused of raping her. 

According to India Today, she was first stabbed by the attackers and then set ablaze after they poured petrol on her.

Despite UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath condemning the attack as “saddening”, the victim’s father said no other politician or MLA has yet come forward to meet them. 

The attackers have been arrested and the case will be heard in a fast-track court, promised Adityanath.

Locals who saw the ghastly attack on the woman said she walked 500-700 metres despite being set ablaze and asked a person to help her. She then herself called 112 and informed the police about the incident.

She was buried at her village on Sunday afternoon amid tight security arrangements, two days after she passed away at the Safdarjung Hospital in Delhi.
