MS Dhoni’s Chennai Super Kings stormed to the top of the points table with a 2-run win over Kolkata Knight Riders in a low-scoring affair. CSK now have 6 wins from the 7 matches that they have played.

The hosts were invited to bat first but none of their batsmen could reach the 30-run mark as Brad Hogg (1/18) and Piyush Chawla (2/26) restricted Chennai’s score to 134/6.

However, Dhoni must have defended these low totals more than anyone in the history of IPL as he maneuvered his bowlers brilliantly to put a stranglehold on KKR.
The holders were too negative in their approach and only Robin Uthappa (39) and Ryan ten Doeschate (38) could score at more than run a ball and that was not good enough in front of Dwayne Bravo (3/22).
