All this action and drama in our lives; why not some colour? And, 2015 happened to have a few of colourful additions to its release of animated movies. We know weekends with the family are always a special occasion, and we imagined that a nice movie should help you guys unwind from the week.

So, here’s a list of animated movies from 2015 that we thought you should check out:

 

1. Anomalisa

Directed by Charlie Kaufman and Duke Johnson, and written by Kaufman based on his own eponymous play, Anomalisa is a comedy/drama stop motion film based on a man’s dejection for a mundane life and his experience into the extraordinary.

 

2. The Good Dinosaur

Directed by Peter Sohn, The Good Dinosaur is a Disney and Pixar production about the epic journey of an Apatosaurus named Arlo who makes an unlikely human friend with a Neanderthal boy Spot.

 

3. Home

Directed by Tim Johnson, Home is the story of the distrustful friendship created between a human girl Tip (Rihanna) and Oh a fugitive from a hive-minded alien race called the Boov who have taken over Earth.

 

4. Inside Out

The Disney and Pixar release, directed by Pete Docterand Ronnie del Carmen, has been one of the most successful animated movies last year. The story revolves around a little girl who loses the emotions of Joy (Amy Poehler) and Sadness (Phyllis Smith) to the far recesses of her mind.

 

5. Minions

A spin-off/prequel to the Despicable Me franchise, Minions is directed by Pierre Coffin and Kyle Bald about the minions whose sole purpose is to find the most despicable master in order to serve as their, wait for it, minions. 

 

6. Shaun Of The Sheep

Shaun The Sheep is a British stop-motion animated adventure comedy film based on the Shaun the Sheep television series by Nick Park about Shaun and his flock who travel into the big city to rescue their farmer, who finds his amnesiac self there as a result of their mischief.

 

7. Alvin And The Chipmunks: The Road Chip

The fourth to the Alvin and the Chipmunks film series, The Road Trip is about the chipmunks who start to believe that a marriage proposal for Dave (Jason Lee) is on the horizon. Dreading the thought of an antagonistic stepbrother (Josh Green), Alvin (Justin Long), Theodore and Simon embark on a cross-country journey to prevent their best pal from ruining their lives.

 

8. The Peanuts Movie

Directed by Steve Martino, The Peanuts Movie is about Charlie Brown (Noah Schnapp) who finds himself developing a crush for a red-haired girl who moves into his neighbourhood. Meanwhile, his best friend Snoopy embarks on an epic adventure in a fantasy world.

 

9. Hotel Transylvania 2

Directed by Genndy Tartakovsky, Hotel Transylvania 2 stars Adam Sandler voicing Dracula who opens the doors of his hotel to humans, secretly worried that his half human grandson is not revealing much of his vampire side.

 

10. Two By Two

Originally titled as Oops! Noah is Gone, Two By Two is the story of two kids who get left behind by Noah’s ark during the great flood. The two have to now embark on a journey to find the ark.

 

11. Zootopia

Zootopia is a comedy-adventure film produced by Walt Disney Animation about a fast-talking fox who’s trying to make it big goes on the run when he’s framed for a crime he didn’t commit.

 

12. Adama

Adama is a French animated drama film directed by Simon Rouby about a young West African boy who sets off across Europe in search of his older brother during the First World War.

 

13. The Little Prince

Based on the 1943 novel by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, The Little Prince is an English-language French 3D stop motion adventure fantasy film directed by Mark Osborne. Loosely adapted from the novel, the story revolves around a young girl who befriends an elderly aviator narrator as she deals with her overbearing mother.

 

14. Strange Magic

Directed by Gary Rydstrom, Strange Magic is a musical fantasy comedy film  inspired by William Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Writer George Lucas had been working on developing the story for 15 years before production of the film began.

 

15. Hell And Back

So, here’s one for an adult comedy viewing which you should probably keep away from the family. Hell And Back is a fantasy comedy stop-motion film about two friends, Remy (Nick Swardson) and Augie (T. J. Miller) who have to travel to hell to fetch their friend Curt (Rob Riggle) back when he accidentally takes an evil blood oath.
