While most of the Britons awoke to the news of UK getting out of the European Union on Friday, there was a curious development that emerged hours after the polls ended.

There was suddenly a sharp rise in people searching for answers to basic queries about the EU and the implications of the vote.

Google reported that searches for “what happens if we leave the EU” had tripled in the UK after the poll results were out.

“Even though I voted to leave, this morning I woke up and I just — the reality did actually hit me, if I’d had the opportunity to vote again, it would be to stay,” a lady was quoted while speaking to ITV News.
