Touching a new low in politics, BJP leader Dayashankar Singh compared Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) supremo Mayawati to a ‘prostitute’.

He made the highly objectionable statement on Tuesday during his visit to Mau district in Uttar Pradesh after being appointed as the vice president of the party’s state unit.

“Even a prostitute fulfills her commitment after she is paid. But Mayawati sells party tickets to anyone who paid her the highest amount. If someone gives her Rs 1 cr for a ticket she will give it to other person who is offering Rs 2 cr, ” said Dayashankar.

He has now been removed as BJP UP Vice President for his offensive remarks against Mayawati.

Here’s the video:

The comment led to massive uproar in Rajya Sabha. BSP party workers demanded immediate arrest of Dayashankar Singh for the comment.

Reacting to the comment, BSP Supremo Mayawati said,” These kind of derogatory statements show that BJP is frustrated with the growing public support for BSP.”

Union Minister Arun Jaitley expressed “personal regret” over the remarks and assured that he would look into this matter.

Dayashankar later apologised for his comment.
