The central government might have sparked a nation-wide rush to banks after it banned Rs 500 and Rs 1000 notes. It also announced the creation of new Rs 500 and Rs 2000 notes with new security features that will be disbursed to people.

It now turns out the government plans to issue new Rs 1000 notes again too.

Economic Affairs Secretary Shaktikanta Das today said that all currency notes, including the Rs 1000 notes will be brought back again. But with new security features.

It's not clear when it will happen though. The new designs of the notes have also not been revealed.

Among the features of the new notes include:

  • It has the currency value written in Hindi as well
  • The number is written in green colour which also turns blue in light
  • It has the Swacch Bharat logo on it
  • It has raised letters on it so that the visually challenged can feel Rs 2000 written on Braille

The new notes are said to have new security features that will make it more difficult for counterfeiters to imitate.
