Lalit Modi perhaps never misses an opportunity to rile the BCCI and the Indian Premier League. At a time everyone's debating whether the IPL should be played in areas affected by drought, the former head of the IPL tweeted and posted a picture on Instagram saying the cricket league can do much more.
In a series of tweets, Modi suggested the BCCI could donate Rs 1000 crore and profits towards helping the victims of drought and effectively even started a trend #IPLforDroughtVictims.
Here's what he tweeted:
IPL should donate its 1000 crore plus profit for this Year to help victims of drought. This is… https://t.co/yMj0n5Wa6s— Lalit Kumar Modi (@LalitKModi) April 8, 2016
Many people supported this suggestion and said the BCCI should do exactly that.
After seeing the support he was getting, Modi upped the ante against the BCCI
bcci says money for tv rights cannot be disclosed - well I can disclose the amount it's rupees… https://t.co/hvmb4sNcNd— Lalit Kumar Modi (@LalitKModi) April 9, 2016
And even made a promise:
Now to see whether the BCCI bends to a suggestion from the man it's least likely to listen to.
