As the oft-repeated cliche goes, well-behaved women rarely make history. And if we were to look at Mae West’s life and career, she was certainly not a well-behaved woman. Not by society’s definition of how women should behave, at least.
Actress, comedian, screenwriter, playwright and an undisputed glamour icon back in the early 1900s, Mae West broke many societal norms, revelling in her sexuality like no woman, or man before. She said it like it was and naturally, raised many eyebrows. But true to form, she was not one to care.
She was a feminist much before the term gained mainstream acceptance. She knew how much to love others and just how much to love her own self. And her life rules serve as great advice for the women of today.
A woman like no other!
